Living, Loving, Learning & Leading
Lists help me!!
I can’t pretend they’re for everyone but here’s some of the conclusions from this week away.
* We go into the world and get bashed - We come back to God and get strengthened.
* In the discipline of slowing down, I reacquaint myself with God’s greatness.
* My situation is my calling.
* The tittering joyful, splashing, giggles of Noah and Esther learning to shower!
* I need to grow more GRACE in my life because the Lord Jesus Christ has been kind to me: How about a grace-watch?
* God’s Word and His Spirit’s voice are increasingly precious to me.
* Resurrection and exaltation can never be known until the crucifixion has been experienced.
* We are invited to lives of inconvenience - The master calls us to serve!
* Quality independent coffee shops are a rare but vital base camp in our community.
* Servanthood is where the glory comes; status is the real sham. Philippians 2
* Church-based ministry is absolutely the right context for our service.
* Suffering and complexity are God’s greatest gifts to me.
* Weekly sabbathing is an area of disobedience at present for me.
* ‘politics’ are pathetic - the pursuit of Christ is priority.
* Greater Word based study is vital for me.
* Hospitality and welcome at Allerdale House has been life-giving.
* Rhythmns at home need to be established and strengthened on settling at No 59.
* More study and reading from Church History are vital, esp Karl Barth.
* Love is the greatest apologetic for the gospel; teach me this afresh oh Lord!
* I’m so looking forward to make a home with my bride and our babies: ok Noah & Esther are little people but you get the idea! Bring on the settling in at 59 Oliver Road.* I need to model a more excellent way,…. by doing less.
* My prayer life isn’t as developed or powerful as it should be!
* Soul-health is still the thing that excites my heart the most.
* Evangelism must be a high priority as an evangelical.
* I often devalue the riches, goodness and inheritance of my life in Christ.
* The companionship of Hannah and others: new and not-so this week has been great!
* Pride is the greatest enemy of my soul.
* Self-awareness and costly courage are rare in some servants.
* The attitude of gratitude is vital.
* Lord, teach me to live uncompromisingly for the greatest cause on Earth - your gospel.
* The responsiblity of my election is my personal holiness - this is what my people most need me to be.
Johnny and Hannah reside in Essex with their gorgeous kids Noah and Esther. They love to connect with people and make an impact in their local community. Johnny is a church leader with a passion for communicating truth and encouraging people in life-long obedience to Jesus, whilst Hannah keeps the family together and is busy with women's ministry and writing projects. They love life, music, movies, coffee and books, preferably not all at the same time!
