Living, Loving, Learning & Leading
The Sentinel did disappoint, nor do nothing much with a tired overly-worn plot that feels like a re-working of The Fugitive, or In the Line of Fire minus any freshness. If you’re looking for superior suspense, buy a 24 box set instead!
Kiefer Sutherland’s portrayal of a Secret Service agent – including his trademark over-dramatic heavy whisper – is proof that the spirit of Jack Bauer is still alive. Michael Douglas is frantic and Eva Longoria’s there for……well decide it yourself?!
It’s fun to watch people in black suits and earpieces run and chase each other with guns – especially when they’re easy on the eye and actually decent thespians. In a time when surprise endings and indie budgets are hip and trendy, it’s nice to get an attempted throwback thriller. The script may be manufactured, but the sweat stains are real….Sadly for Sutherland, he looked shocked at the lack of action, and it was barely a pre-breakfast work-out!
Stray thoughts…
Sledgehammer is impossibly hard to take seriously as the President!! perturbing!
Why do a group of Eastern-European henchmen even want to kill the president?
Why did Douglas fail the polygraph, anyhow?
How did Michael Douglas manage to land Catherine Zeta Jones? ,…ok that one’s got nothing to do with the plot!!
Keifer just stay true to Jack Baeur till the end of time and all will be ok! As for Bauer…err…Sutherland,
the similarity to his beautiful-and-brillant “24″ gig is so uncanny that you expect that special clock to start ticking 90 minutes into the movie.
Beep, boop, beep, boop…
