As we’re updating all things pertaining to ‘Douglas’, it’s probably a good time to update you on the junior members of the household. Noah is currently sporting a shiny badge which he proudly pins to his jumper each morning, celebrating his role as ’school counsellor’. Two children from every class are elected to this position (fairly randomly I’m sure!) and his lovely gappy smile (3 teeth out so far) adorns the wall of the school hall. Apparently they’re good at ‘planning…’

Esther meanwhile is blossoming and growing more confident socially. She’s started having her friends for tea (rather than borrowing Noah’s!) and dolls in prams are pushed around from room to room. She’s growing taller and leaner and swims like a fish. Having moved up a swimming class she glides effortlessly across the pool.

Noah is not a glider (!) and his sporting abilities lie elsewhere; he has just taken up basketball and had a very positive first session. We have also entered the world of gameboys & both children have been blessed by second hand ones which have come our way, but I foresee the need for firm boundaries in this area!

Hygiene requirements appear to be changing; showers are ‘in’ and baths are ‘out’, although there seems to be a happy medium where they can sit down and shower themselves if they choose!

Noah and Esther bring us much joy and as ever their spiritual development is always foremost in our thoughts, especially with all the other things demanding their attention. In the light of this I was encouraged to find a piece of paper on which Noah had written -
‘I love God, I love Jeus, I love BENO, I love Srec, I love my gamboy.’ Enough said. I think he has the right priorities even if his spelling does need a little work!
