Living, Loving, Learning & Leading
In my wonderful, diverse and complex part life…. is the privilege of accompanying, listening, inputing, challenging, praying and questioning! I love to trace what God, by His Spirit does in people’s lives…. and to think that people still think that ‘vicars are invisible for the other-six-days!!’
Here’s a new way of saying what I love to ask…….. here’s the way I said it today….?
what do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
what’s your answer to this question and what’s a favourite question of yours….?
Johnny and Hannah reside in Essex with their gorgeous kids Noah and Esther. They love to connect with people and make an impact in their local community. Johnny is a church leader with a passion for communicating truth and encouraging people in life-long obedience to Jesus, whilst Hannah keeps the family together and is busy with women's ministry and writing projects. They love life, music, movies, coffee and books, preferably not all at the same time!

OK guys, here goes:-
One of my fave questions - and one I have had some stunning answers to, especially from children, is “If Jesus were to walk in the door right now, what would you ask him?” One answer I will take with me to the grave was from an 8 year old girl who had been coming to a bible-based lunchtime club for about a year - she said she’d ask Him “Did it hurt when you sweat blood?” Amazing…….
As for the answer to your question about this one wild and precious life………
Well, I don’t want to waste a single moment - and yet I do by getting bogged down in trivialities…..curse depressive tendencies!……….I plan to hang on to promises and dreams and not let man put me off………I plan to squeeze out every last drop……….I want to travel with work (which is starting to happen, praise God)…..I plan to give God more and more Glory for it all……I was so challenged by something a certain preacher man said just yesterday (might blog about it myself sometime soon)………I plan to laugh more, love more, exercise more, yet worry less & eat less……..I plan to take more risks and not be afraid of what others think……….I plan to stop hiding from the world…….and I plan to run more half marathons if my creaking old joints allow!!!! I plan to be a mum my girls can call friend and a wife my hubby wants to grow old and grey with………
And of course I plan to see James Blunt one more time……..

I’m not sure I have a standard or default question for people. But in my work, interviewing all kinds of different professionals on a regular basis, one of the key measures I use is the extent to which someone is able to get me enthused about what they do and how they do it. So I think I’d ask something along the lines of: “what excites you most and how do engage with that/work that out?”

As a 60+, I look back at my “wild & precious life” thus far and thank God for what he’s already done in me, enabled me to do & those people he has brought into my life. But I hope there’s more to come! I want us to do our best to follow God, enjoy life where we can & do things rather than just “sit around”, which is a temptation!

What I plan to do with my lfie is to fill it up and pour it out again continuously. I’d like to tour England and get to know my country. My aim is to ensure that even after my life here is over that the work I start continues long after I’m gone, making a positive, empowering and healing impact on the lives of families.
What question, do I love to ask? What’s your name and how would you like your life to be in 10 years time and what are you doing now to make it happen?

With this one ‘wild and precious’ life I long to communicate the truth of Christ, impact people, namely family and friends, for Jesus, act in accordance with the words I speak and be open to be used as a vessel through which God might move in power. I also want to travel and be amazed by the created world in which we live, I want to dream big dreams and see them become reality, I want to be a great husband to my future wife, and God willing a great father to any young keels who may come along!
The question that I love to ask people is….
What do you think God thinks about you/that?

Hi there Paula
What a chewy reply! Good stuff….
If these are the ‘plans-wants-hopes’ you must translate them in reality so that your joy might be full! Work out the implications of John Piper’s genius, ‘Don’t waste your life!’
And just beware that ‘Blunty’ doesnt dent your soul!!

i want to grow increasingly in greater intimacy with Jesus, live fully surrendered to Him, to grow in faith, embrace the totality of God’s freedom, love in action & truth, share more stories & build relationships, laugh more, take more adventures, see more of the world, experience other cultures, dream big and see them fulfilled, embrace & use the giftings which God has given me…
i want to be a part of planting more churches & to plant overseas would be amazing, get to africa & india & be involved in mission overseas long-term, be married, adopt/foster children, write a book or two…
whilst also i don’t want to put God in a box - i know He’s got more ahead than i could ever dream of - i want surprises, i want twists & turns, i want to step out, take risks, i want to live each day with all i’ve got…
and above all what i’m living for is to see God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven…
“to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, & release from darkness the prisoners….” Isaiah 63
“The kingdom of heaven is near, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy and cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Matt 10
My question to you: “what has God birthed in you that you cannnot ignore in order to be true to who you are & who God’s called/made you to be?”

if you know me, you will know I can never answer a question without going round the houses, so….the answer; what I plan to do with my one wild and precious life is - live it to the full, in the confidence of Christ in me. Is my one line answer - but how did I get there?
well, … I was a daughter, a princess, longing to please her father, trying to live a life of perfectionism, while longing for a well done for just who I was. A sister trying to be the normal sibling, while longing for the comforting arms of a big strong brother. I became a wife, desiring to be the grown up pleasing her husband, a carer of a poorly man, while crying out for him to take control. I became a mother, and at last found identity and confidence in who I was - hiding behind the pram handle, never so confident, and never so shielded!. It has taken me some 40 years to find my identity, and at last I am a child again, a child of God. My life has been shaped, as has everyones, by what it has been, but this has all been in the huge hands of my Father, with the capital F. So, at last, not that this is the end of the journey, but I desire to live a new life of fullness, in what God has planned for me, shaped me for, and with Him as the big arms around me, the confidence I have longed for. I don’t need to do it, or control it myself. He already has, and will continue to do. So in my, not so wild maybe, but precious life, I want to remember who is in control, and how much better it is for that, than in my own efforts.
As for my favourite question? Well I don’t know about deep questions but one I more frequently find myself asking others is? How can I help you? Actually its harder to answer than you think. Try it!
