Living, Loving, Learning & Leading
John Calvin once said, “The human heart is an idol factory.” Interesting thought to meditate on, as many of the voices speaking into our world encourage us to pursue a self-indulgent lifestyle which places more value on material things than spiritual.
It’s easy to become a little self-righteous as we do a mental check-list of worthwhile [...]
Early one morning a man was walking along the beach. In the distance he could see a young boy searching along the sand and throwing objects into the sea.
As he got closer he saw that the boy was picking up starfish that had been swept ashore overnight. There were hundreds scattered along the stretch of [...]
I love people’s stories and I’m inspired by people who’ve left their mark and made a difference, most of them now in heaven. One of my favourite movies is Chariots of Fire (I have a dusty copy on video in the shed) and I believe Eric Liddell was an inspiration. He ran with his head [...]
That was the title of a recent preach; Johnny was expounding Nehemiah ch 3 and I suspect the phrase “Don’t be paralysed, get organised!” was thought up with me in mind! Consequently I have it stuck above my desk and it spurs me on - productivity and not procrastination is my goal, and in order [...]

“Dare to love and to be a real friend. The love you give and receive is a reality that will lead you closer and closer to God as well as those whom God has given you to love.” Henri Nouwen
My daughter has just grown a beautiful sunflower (several actually). Esther and Noah planted quite a few seeds over the summer but many of them didn’t survive. Two or three did however and Esther’s one is truly flourishing, largely due to her commitment to watering it regularly over the summer. We had regular updates on [...]
My friend, I stand in the judgement and feel that you are to blame somehow…
On earth I walked with you day by day and never did you point the way.
You knew the Lord in truth and glory, but never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim; you could have led me safe [...]
Johnny and Hannah reside in Essex with their gorgeous kids Noah and Esther. They love to connect with people and make an impact in their local community. Johnny is a church leader with a passion for communicating truth and encouraging people in life-long obedience to Jesus, whilst Hannah keeps the family together and is busy with women's ministry and writing projects. They love life, music, movies, coffee and books, preferably not all at the same time!
